Marriott announced today that up to 500 million guests’ information may have been compromised in a data breach that has been going on since 2014.
The company stated that the breach involved the Starwood guest reservation database and that the hackers have had unauthorized access to reservation information for approximately 4 years. Marriott has taken steps toward removing this access.
If you made a reservation at a Starwood hotel in the last 4 years your personal information may have been stolen. The company says it will begin emailing guests who’s name was in their database, and that they’ll provide a free of charge online account monitoring with WebWatcher to impacted guests for one year.
We recommend you change your password if you’re registered online with a Starwood hotel in the last 4 years. If you’ve used that password on other sites, you should change those immediately as well.
If you have further questions or concerns about how this impacts you, please contact Galileo.
